Each tent requires maintenance. Below are some practical tips on how to use and maintain your tent to avoid common problems. We wish you a pleasant and Happy Camp.
Occupancy
The fabric material of each tent has a different service life, the use Time is measured by weeks and as follows:
– Polyester: approx. 15 to 25 weeks.
– Cotton / polyester: ykl. 30 to 40 weeks.
– Cotton: approx. 35 to 45 weeks.
Zippers
Zippers are often subjected to great strain: by the wind, poor tent installation, or by people and/or objects putting pressure on the tent. Zippers are very sensitive as they are often used. Also, due to weather effects, there is no warranty on the zippers. The following measures can be taken to prevent breakdowns and breakdowns:
-Make sure the zippers are closed during assembly
– Use the zippers carefully.
-With occasional silicone spray for smooth decking of zippers
they must be traded.
Sun and discoloration
The sun’S UV rays affect most fabrics and materials, especially polyester and nylon. The fabric quality of the tent may decline and degrade to a certain degree if exposed to continuous and intense sunlight. Cotton, cotton/polyester tents are more resistant to UV rays. As asbestos will no longer be used in tent materials, the fabric is not 100% light resistant. Cotton / polyester, polyester and nylon are not suitable for seasonal camping. The following precautions should be taken to prevent discoloration:
– Set up the tent in a shady place
– Do not expose the tent to direct sunlight.
– Apply waterproofing material to the tent occasionally.Dec. In this way, you apply a new protective coating against the sun’S UV rays, thereby extending the life of your tent.
Humidity
Moisture is a normal phenomenon that occurs in all polyester and nylon tents and the formation of water droplets inside the outer tent. Moisture mainly occurs when the temperature outside the tent is lower than inside (especially at night), causing moisture in the air, clothes and breath to settle on the canvas. Floor moisture often occurs, especially between the floor tile and the air bed. If the inside of your tent is damp, don’t immediately assume there is a leak; this is usually condensation. To prevent moisture, you can take the following precautions:
– Make sure there is adequate ventilation. This can be done very easily with the opening of a door or the vent opening.
-A tent carpet and ground cover (preferably an eco-towel)
use make sure it is smaller than +/-5cm to prevent moisture and fraying.
Leak
Leakage from cotton and cotton/polyester can first penetrate and leak, especially at the seams. After the stitches are wet and swollen, the leak will stop.
Light spots can be seen in a wet tent, but this does not cause any harm. Made of Polyester and nylon, tents are coated to be waterproof and waterproof (usually with polyurethane).
Exposure to ultraviolet rays (UV) from the sun can cause degradation of the coating and therefore waterproofing over time. You can take the following precautions to prevent leakage:
-A waterproofing agent should be applied to the outside of the outer tent from time to time to protect the waterproofness of your tent and increase its durability. Its frequency depends on the time and conditions during which the tent is exposed to sunlight.
-Over time, nylon and polyester tents can pass water through the seams as the edges of the cone begin to peel off. You can solve this with a sewing tape.
Mold and stains
The following measures can be taken to prevent inadequate ventilation, mold and stains, especially in seasonal campsites:
– Keep your tent 100% dry.
-If mold occurs, try cleaning with a soft brush or sponge with clean and warm water.
-If stains are permanent, use cleaning agents suitable for tents. Other chemicals may damage tent fabric. After cleaning with a cleaning agent, you will need to make your tent waterproof again.
